A Soapbox Rant

Pardon me while I step up on my soapbox and give you my opinion of the main stream media. This is the obituary posted in the Washington Post about the death of Ayatollah Khamenei.

Seriously? He is portrayed as a jolly old man with an “easy smile, white beard” and who loved poetry. Where in this obituary is it mentioned that he hated all “infidels”, basically anyone who doesn’t agree with him and his faith in Allah. Does he say that they hope his victims rest in peace? The thousands of protesters that he had killed in the last few months are not around to witness his demise, but I am certain that this is not the obit they would want to read.

One person I follow on Facebook wrote this about the obituary:

Not the slaughter of tens of thousands.
Not the chronic persecution of women.
Not the funding of splinter groups of terrorists throughout the Middle East, constantly keying deliberate unrest.
Not the blood of Americans or Israelis.
Not the blood of its very own citizens.
Not the Death to America chants.
Not the schools geared toward hatred of Western culture, immersing children in an atmosphere of hate.
Not the Death to all infidels… infidels being anyone who doesn’t follow Sharia law, i.e. most of the world.
Not the hatred of anyone and anything that limited his reign of terror.

Nope.

Khamenei’s obituary in the Washington Post remembers him for his bushy white beard and easy smile and threw in words like “avencular” (uncle-like??? So he was everybody’s favorite “uncle”???) and “rapprochement” (return to harmonious relations).

In an obituary that reads like A. I. word salad, once again we see forest and the trees.

The Ayatollah was the favorite uncle to like-minded men and brainwashed women who may have no idea that options exist. The options that existed before the brutal takeover forty-seven years ago.

Recoloring history didn’t used to be a journo trait.
It is firmly embedded now. ~Ruth Logan Herne

Perhaps the MSM needs to hire Ruth to write their obituaries in the future. Then, again, maybe not since truth telling evades them so they probably don’t want to hire anyone who tells the truth.

I am glad that God doesn’t lie and that He holds those who do accountable. I am sad for all those deceived by these lies, but the Bible says something about that, too, in the Book of Romans.

End of rant. May God be with our courageous members of the U.S. military as well as with the Israeli forces as they fight the good fight against pure evil.

Pray for those in Iran who desire a peaceful government that does the job of protecting the people. 🙏🏻

A Troubled Nation

We all learned division in elementary school, and we found out that it was hard and sometimes tedious. Our nation is divided along political and religious beliefs. And it’s hard and frightening. The era of civil discourse has ended and we are entering an era of violence against those with whom you disagree. If you don’t believe me, check out Blue Sky, an app for liberals that is calling for murdering Republicans. What did Charlie Kirk do to make someone want to kill him? We don’t know yet because the killer(s) have not been caught yet. But there is plenty of speculation about the assassination being politically motivated. In my opinion, that is probably accurate, but I think that the murder goes beyond that and reveals the heart and soul of America right now.

Years ago, I can’t even remember when it ended, the proper way to respond to those with whom you disagreed was to just walk away, knowing that you had agreed to disagree. You would continue with your opinion and they would continue with theirs. Nowadays, though, the evil minds of a few are vocally calling for violence when the other side does not agree with them. The issues are as numerous as the people who propagate them, but the ones that immediately come to mind are abortion, transgender rights, and illegal immigration. Those of us on the right say abortion is murder, there are only two genders and illegal immigration is, well, illegal, so those who crossed the border illegally should return to their homeland, or at least come across the border the right way. Charlie Kirk was a conservative Christian who would debate anyone about his views, not in a manner of “in your face” and “I know you’re wrong and I will prove it.” No, he reasoned with the people who confronted him and some listened and even changed their beliefs while others were angry that he was expounding on those beliefs. May we be mindful to respect the opinions of others and to disagree with love, not with hatred.

What will be the outcome of yesterday’s murder of a young family man who loved his God, his family and his nation? We don’t know, but we can be certain that things will change. The god of this world is alive and active and dedicated to destroying the truth. As Christians, we need to be ready to stand up for our beliefs and not to back down.

I subscribe to a Substack blog called Coffee and Covid. Here is today’s post that spoke to my heart about what is happening these days and prompted me to write this post.

Coffee and Covid

I will close with a photo and a scripture verse that brought me comfort and peace yesterday.

Charlie’s wife and two small children need our prayers. Our nation needs our prayers. Our leaders need our prayers. And our “enemies” need our prayers. I am comforted by the fact that God is still on His throne and although the enemy might have won this skirmish, the victory belongs to the Lord! Pray for our nation on this anniversary of 9-11. May we never forget the unity at that time and may the memory of all who sacrificed their lives on that day ever keep us true to our faith, our family and our nation.

News Notes and Observations

On our drive back from Maryland, I was appalled to receive this news blurb:

The headline is bad enough, but here is part of the story:

You should follow this link if you want to see the news video and more about what the police discovered: New York Post

I read the article to my husband and we discussed how she would have been lauded by the liberals if only she had chosen to have an abortion instead of waiting until the newborn was born alive and then killing the child. What a commentary on how sadly misled our world has become that a young woman, who actually appears “normal”, could think that it’s okay to discard a newborn in a trash bag along with the cleaning supplies from cleaning up the after-birth. To think that throwing a child into a trash bag is exactly what the abortion clinics do. Or worse, they sell the parts for money and make more of a profit from dealing death to the innocent.

Like I said, I was appalled, but I must admit I was not surprised. Much of our society has been on the wrong side of the abortion issue since the beginning. Contraception made it easy not to get pregnant and if that wasn’t available or didn’t work, society accepts disposing of the “mistake.” I just wonder how long it will be before the liberals demand this girl be released because, after all, it was “her choice.” It’s a baby, not a choice, a person whom God created and meant to be loved, nurtured and cherished, not tossed into a trash bag. What a travesty!

My personal opinion is that this cheerleader should have the harshest penalty possible as a statement/warning to others not to follow in her footsteps. But my assumption, given the climate in our society and the fact that Kentucky is a mostly liberal state, is that she will get a slap on the wrist and freed to pursue her dreams while her dead baby never got to have any. I am disgusted, saddened and angry that such a thing can happen in our nation. But more, I am calling out to God for forgiveness for a nation that does not value life and thinks it is disposable at will.
