News Notes and Observations

On our drive back from Maryland, I was appalled to receive this news blurb:

The headline is bad enough, but here is part of the story:

You should follow this link if you want to see the news video and more about what the police discovered: New York Post

I read the article to my husband and we discussed how she would have been lauded by the liberals if only she had chosen to have an abortion instead of waiting until the newborn was born alive and then killing the child. What a commentary on how sadly misled our world has become that a young woman, who actually appears “normal”, could think that it’s okay to discard a newborn in a trash bag along with the cleaning supplies from cleaning up the after-birth. To think that throwing a child into a trash bag is exactly what the abortion clinics do. Or worse, they sell the parts for money and make more of a profit from dealing death to the innocent.

Like I said, I was appalled, but I must admit I was not surprised. Much of our society has been on the wrong side of the abortion issue since the beginning. Contraception made it easy not to get pregnant and if that wasn’t available or didn’t work, society accepts disposing of the “mistake.” I just wonder how long it will be before the liberals demand this girl be released because, after all, it was “her choice.” It’s a baby, not a choice, a person whom God created and meant to be loved, nurtured and cherished, not tossed into a trash bag. What a travesty!

My personal opinion is that this cheerleader should have the harshest penalty possible as a statement/warning to others not to follow in her footsteps. But my assumption, given the climate in our society and the fact that Kentucky is a mostly liberal state, is that she will get a slap on the wrist and freed to pursue her dreams while her dead baby never got to have any. I am disgusted, saddened and angry that such a thing can happen in our nation. But more, I am calling out to God for forgiveness for a nation that does not value life and thinks it is disposable at will.

Shine His Light

Our tendency as a part of a population of people…our friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc…to try to fit in with others. So, as darkness covers the earth and the world becomes more corrupt, we have to remember that we are called to be different, to be the light that the world needs. When others say that abortion is just a medical procedure to take care of an unwanted pregnancy, the light within should loudly proclaim that abortion is murder. When the world is telling us that we need to accept the new morality, twenty or so genders and homosexuality is being normalized even in some church congregations, we need to shine the light of His truth. God created two genders, period. And He created man for woman and woman for man. His word calls homosexuality an abomination; it’s not an old-fashioned idea but rather truth from the Bible. If we don’t shine His light, then we are choosing to participate in the darkness. Jesus put His light into our hearts so that we could shine, so we must shine brightly, even as the world around us accepts more and more darkness. “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…let it shine ’til Jesus comes.” Together, we are a beacon of light telling the world the truth about God’s Word and His standards that are for our good always.

The Greater Light

From the gentle morning sun rays that break through your window in the morning to the headlights that guide you on your way home at night, light is a constant presence.

Yet, there is a greater Light than any physical light we know…

In Isaiah 60:1, the prophet speaks of this greater Light. And his words are more than pretty poetry and a prophecy; they are a call to action, an encouragement for God’s people to find hope—Light, in the midst of darkness (Isaiah 59:9-10):
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”
Isaiah 60:1
This Light is a beacon of hope, the picture of salvation and spiritual awakening. This Light is the true Light, the Messiah—Jesus Christ. He is the light God’s people needed then (Isaiah 59:9-10), and He is the light our hearts desperately need today.
In a world that sometimes can feel like it’s drowning in darkness—disasters, wars, injustice, and suffering—Isaiah’s message is an invitation to embrace God’s true Light of salvation, revealed in the New Testament to be Jesus Christ. Let this light shine brightly within you, driving out the shadows of darkness and illuminating the path for those who don’t know this Light.

Pause for a moment. Imagine a world filled with the light of God’s love and truth. Can you imagine a world where the light of Christ shines from the windows of every home and down every street…

God wants to use you—yes, you—to shine His light.

March for Life

www.bible.com/111/psa.139.13-14.niv

Today is the annual March for Life, taking place throughout the country. You can join in virtually by going to March for Life. It has never been more important that we stand for the sanctity of life, because the President in the Oval Office is signing executive orders making life cheap and easy to “get rid of”, even at taxpayer’s expense. I have heard all of my life that if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. I’m standing for life! When the President’s press secretary was asked how he could support abortion as a Catholic, her reply was that he is a “devout Catholic.” Really? Does the Catholic Church approve of abortions now? Actually, killing the unborn is a platform of the Democratic Party, supporting Planned Parenthood and the millions of abortions that this organization performs in the guise of healthcare. It’s not a choice! It’s a baby! Thus, I’m asking for you to attend the virtual March for Life, financially support the organization if you can, support Dr. James Dobson who has fought for life for decades. In my mind, it is absolute evil to sacrifice an unborn baby to Molech, which is what I consider abortion to be, a sacrifice to a demonic god. We are called to be salt so that the world will desire to drink of the pure water of life. Let’s be salt today!
