Our Story Is Still Being Written

My big takeaway from the devotional today is that God is not finished with me until I draw my last breath here on earth. He is still writing my story, and it will have a happy ending. Each day is a new page in the book of my life and I want the new pages to be filled with gratitude and experiences that glorify God. It doesn’t matter what others say about you or what happened in the past; each day is a new day to make a difference in your world for Him. I am not who the world says I am or even who they think I am. I am exactly who my Heavenly Father created me to be. Like the rest of His creation, I am convinced that God looked at me and said, “It is good.” All that He does is good and created for a purpose, and I am happy to report that I continue to have a reason to live and to serve God every day as He writes new pages in my story.

Knowing What Direction to Go

It’s hard to know what choices to make sometimes, so the best thing to always do is pray, follow the leading of the Spirit, and take a step forward. If it is the wrong step, God will let us know so that we can get back on the right track. If others ask us for advice, the best thing we can do is pray with them and ask for God’s wisdom and guidance. We don’t have a crystal ball or anything similar, but we do have the Holy Spirit who will lead us to help others if that is what God wants us to do. We always have to be careful not to step out in our own wisdom and give advice from our own mind and heart. It’s okay to tell the person that we will pray about it and get back to them when the Lord gives us an answer. It is never okay to lead someone in the wrong direction, even if the intentions are good, and shrug it off when things don’t work out for them. We are the called and the chosen, not the know-it-alls of the world. Let’s act as though God can use us and He will, in His timing and for His purpose, not to glorify us but always for His glory.

Exaltation

What does it mean to exalt the Lord? According to the online dictionary, it means to “elevate with praise, to glorify.” So, why do we exalt the Lord when He is already in the Heavens, the real Master of the Universe? I think we exalt Him because we need to hear ourselves acknowledge His power, His sovereignty and His worthiness to be praised. So much of the time, all day long, we spend giving ourselves and those around us little pep talks, telling them and ourselves what a good job we are doing or how much we appreciate the effort that they are making. Yet, when it comes to God, I think sometimes we take Him for granted, choosing to esteem ourselves rather than our Creator. So, today, I am taking time to exalt the Name of the Lord for WHO HE IS, not for all that He has done for me, although that list is innumerable. I just want to focus on His Lordship, His Kingship, on His character that is unchanging.

We cannot tell of the Lord’s greatness without acknowledging Him as the One who is the Ruler of our hearts. God is God…let’s praise Him and let Him know that although the world may turn against Him, we know that He is and always will be Lord of all.
