God Is Faithful

God’s promises always amaze me, but none more so than those I read in my devotional this morning.

My hope is in God, so I am blessed. He is the Maker of heaven and earth and all that in is them. And, best of all, the promise is that He remains faithful forever. Not just for today when things may be difficult. God is there for the good times, the bad times, all the times.

And in case I am wondering how I will get safely from point A to point B, God graciously reassures me that He takes me by the hand and tells me not to be afraid. Just as I hold the children under my care and cuddle them and tell them that it will be alright. God does the same for me. It’s up to me to listen. God is there and promises His help.

God’s Word is always lighting up my path and He always seems to know when I need a brighter light shone or when I need to see something new that I haven’t noticed before. I pray for each of you to find the help and hope that you need in the Lord God, the Maker of Heaven and earth, and the Creator of YOU!

May God bless you with a new revelation from His Word today!

All That I Need

Often in today’s world of plenty, we think that we need more than we really do. This is especially true for me when I am packing for a trip. I pack a lot of things that are “just in case” items. I was packing yesterday to go visit my sister again and counting up how many tops, pj’s, and other things I would need for almost a two week stay. Then I started counting my pills, making sure that I had enough to last me while I am there. I spent hours making sure that I have packed all that I will need. Then, a light went off in my head. What if I forget something? Will the world as we know it come to a screeching halt? No, of course not. I would just have to figure out a way to obtain the missing item from one of the hundreds of stores around there. So, problem solved and stress abated.

This morning I read my devotional and a verse just jumped off the page at me and made me chuckle at my mad hat attempt to pack yesterday and to think of everything that I might possibly ever use in the next two weeks.

Sometimes I find myself rushing around trying to solve my own problems and setting up what if scenarios to plan in advance. Meanwhile, God is in Heaven, probably amused by my frantic attempts and waiting for me to realize that He is the good shepherd and He will make sure that I have all that I need. That reassurance is calming to my spirit and like an ointment on my frantically beating heart that wants to plan everything in advance, including planning for all contingencies. God spoke to my heart this morning and told me clearly to just calm down; He will make sure that I have all that I need. As I go into spiritual battle in a household without God, I am taking Him with me, and He will make certain that I don’t lack anything, not the words I need to speak or the attitude that I need to show. He has prepared me for this trip, just as He has gotten me ready for everything else I face in life, and He wants me to know that He loves me so much that I can just let go and let Him take over. Mostly, what I need to pack is a heart full of grace and love, mercy, peace and acceptance. Now, I’m ready to go…I’m taking God’s suitcase of promises with me and I’m ready!

No matter what today brings, remember that in Christ, you lack nothing. Have a blessed day filled with the Lord and the knowledge of His great love for you.

A Promise from God

Do you remember being a child and doing a “pinkie swear” with a friend? I do, and I was always devastated when the other person broke their promise. When I became a Christian almost five decades ago, I discovered that one of God’s character traits is that He never lies and He never breaks a promise.

Do you see the promise in this verse? It’s a conditional one, meaning that we have a role to play in the fulfillment of it. We love God and He promises to love us. We seek God and He promises that we will find Him.

How do we seek God? By spending time with him, reading His Word, talking to Him as our closest friend and confidante. We can tell God anything and He won’t gossip about it or make us wish that we had not told Him to begin with.

How do we love God? By putting Him first in our lives, above all people and all things. I don’t think that we can say that we love God if we don’t spend time with Him. He isn’t the genie that pops out of the bottle to grant our wishes when we pray. He is the Creator of the Universe who loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us, so how can we do less than make Him our first priority. We represent Him to all who see us and know that we call ourselves Christians, so let’s love Him by being good representatives, not poor imitations of what He desires us to be.

I hope that you enjoyed this promise as much as I did. Love=Love. Seek=Find.

Have a blessed day filled with God’s goodness, promises love.

A Promise from God

The Holy Bible is filled with promises from God. During my devotional this morning, I was directed to this one twice, one in “Our Daily Bread” and once in “Mornings with Jesus.” Thus I am sharing it with you so you can receive a blessing as well.

I focused on the words “always,” “strengthen” and “a well-watered garden.” What is your focus when you read and meditate on this verse?

May you have a blessed day, and I sincerely hope that you plan to attend a worship service at a Bible-believing church today.

Scriptures for Me Today (and maybe for you, too)

Unless you die young, we all face old age. I am so thankful for scripture verses that encourage me as my body struggles to do the things that used to come easily. Our pastor last week said that because of sin, death entered the world and that means the aging process (arthritis, diseases, aches, pains, etc.) began when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God. It is only through Christ that we overcome death. The final victory was His and He made it ours, too when He arose from that tomb!

Possess What God Has Given You

I am doing devotionals daily and as I read, I am keeping my eyes open for God’s promises. They are so numerous that I cannot begin to name them all, but finding this Scripture reminded me that reading God’s promises is not enough. I have to actually claim them. They are already mine. And, guess what? They are yours, too! How often have I sat and whined that things are not happening the way I want them to and then God shows me that He is indeed moving. What I have discovered in my journey with God is that sometimes He wants me to step out into the promise, believing that it is mine. Now, I am not a proponent of “fake it until you make it” or “Claim it” no matter how selfish the desire you have in your heart is.

God’s promises have to do with establishing His kingdom in your heart and in the world. For example, Psalm 84:11 says: “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.” What “good thing” is this talking about? Riches, a huge mansion, a luxurious car? No! Of course not! Good things are God’s grace and mercy and salvation. He has already provided these good things for us. We just have to know that it is promised and walk with that promise in our hearts.

Can I see God’s Heaven here on earth? Not really. But I know that I know that the Promised Land exists for me, just as it did for the Israelites. I may face many enemies here on earth, most of them in my own heart waging battle against sin. But I have to step into the knowledge that each day I face, each step I take to advance God’s kingdom brings me closer to the Promised Land, the land in which I will spend eternity with Him. I can sometimes imagine God just looking at earth and its inhabitants and shaking his head in disbelief at how stubborn we get sometimes. He tells us to do something that will lead to the fulfillment of a promise and instead we hesitate and want all kinds of confirmation and assurances before we move forward. God’s promises are “Yes! Amen” and “Go for it!” But they are not meant to fulfill selfish desires, but to establish His kingdom.

May you be blessed by a promise today from the Lord that you find as you read and study His Word. Hold it in your heart and stop forward in belief that it will be fulfilled because God does not lie, ever.

God’s Promises

I don’t make resolutions, but this year I think that I need more encouragement than normal, so I have decided to keep a notebook of God’s promises and the attributes of Jesus as I read my Bible this year. This is the first one. ALL of God’s promises are “yes.” If He has promised it, He will bring it to pass. In these days that seem to be a forerunner of the end times of Revelations, it is good to remember that God wins in the end. That’s a promise! Plus, his promises are “amen” meaning a resounding “so be it.” If God says something, He will bring it to pass. I have been known to forget promises, only to be reminded by my children, “Mom, remember that you promised that we could go to the pool after dinner tonight?” I learned not to make promises that I could not keep. God didn’t have to learn that. He knows exactly what His plans are and works to fulfill them, making and keeping promises in our lives. I’m really looking forward to rediscovering more of God’s promises this year so that at the end of the year, I have a notebook filled with them. It will be a tangible piece of the Bible that I can hold on to when I need that small word from Him that gives me the peace that I need in my soul. I hope and pray that each of you will hold steadfast to the promises of God, whether you write them down or not. God is always good, always on time and always sovereign. Bless you, my friends!
