His Mighty Works

God’s hand is and has been all over my life for decades. I cannot think of a single day in which God’s mercy and grace and miracles were close by. He has healed me of devastating illnesses, kept me breathing in spite of asthma that has ravaged my lungs and is still healing me every day as He continues to keep my single kidney functioning. Every day that I wake up, I am grateful to see the sky just changing colors, the trees waving in the breeze and the birds and butterflies around me. I love to watch the seasons change, knowing that this demonstrates the hand of the Almighty at work in our fallen world. It is hard to understand why some people don’t believe in God. They deny the existence of the One who created them and has blessed them with all things that they need. Because I cannot help but think of all He has done, marvel at His greatness and then worship Him for who He is and what He has done and is doing. God is good…all the time!

Remembering all that God is and all that He has done is sure to bring praise to our hearts, minds and lips. Praise the Lord!

Meditation for Today

Have you ever had a really good friend who knows everything about you and still loves you in spite of it? This was my meditation this morning and I am blessed by how well God knows me and still loves me. He even knows my thoughts and my words before I speak them. Even when I speak from anger instead of love, God knows and loves. That is a sacrificial love that chooses to love in spite of who I am and not because of who I am. It’s WHOSE I am that really matters to Him! The really good news is that He loves each of us the same way, with the same fervor and the same knowledge. How can we do any less than seek to know Him better each day and to be pleasing to Him in our thoughts and words?

Have a blessed day and enjoy your fellowship with the Lord today!

Thoughts

If we think negative thoughts consistently, then our whole being becomes focused on the negative. The news is famous for saying, “If it bleeds, it leads.” Negative most of the time, the news on any network is not teaching us to be positive and believing people. I would rather focus on God’s Word and the good things that are happening. I challenge you today to think positive thoughts all day. I know that for me this is quite a challenge, especially on this rainy day. But rain is needed, just as the sun is. So I am thankful for the rain that is watering the peas and turnips that my husband diligently worked to plant yesterday. I am thankful for each of you who reads my blog daily and makes comments to encourage me. Mostly, I am thankful for the privilege every day of being able to read God’s Word and to find His love and encouragement there.

May you each have a blessed day, thinking on the things that are pure, lovely, admirable, true, noble and right. As my mom used to tell me, “If you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all.” Jesus wasn’t a negative “Eeyore” type of person, and neither should we be. Is the world all that we want it to be? Absolutely not! But this is God’s world that we inhabit for only a short time, so let’s touch the world and its people with positivity.
