A sweet online friend pointed out that I did not elaborate in my post yesterday about how to be saved. Thus, that is the theme of today’s post because I certainly want anyone who reads my blog and who needs salvation to come to the Lord in repentance and to be saved.

This is an astonishing promise! It doesn’t say that you have to walk right, talk right or be right. God makes you right with Him through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.
The steps to take for salvation are easy to follow. They are commonly known as the “Roman Road” because the verses are found in the Book of Romans. There are no special words to say or a sinner’s prayer that you have to utter. In fact, the words, “sinner’s prayer” are not in the Bible. You just have to believe that Jesus died for you, confess that you are a sinner to Him and accept His free gift of salvation.

Here are the accompanying Scripture verses to ponder in your hearts as you face the choice of eternal life with God:

Thanks for this “P. S.” Vickie. It’s easy these days to assume people know what the gospel is, but it’s surprising how many have never been told, or if they have, their ears have been closed.
May God use this post to make His plan clear to those who need salvation, and may He open their minds and hearts.

Jesus also preached repent for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand. I believe in what you have written. I also believe that when people turn away from sin, they turn to God with a prayer. I believe it can be short and simple but they have to acknowledge that they are a sinner and that they need a Savior. Even the one man in the Bible who was “right” in God’s eyes was the one who said, “God be merciful to me a sinner.” There is no formula for any “right” prayer. The thing is some people who may be just accepting the Lord may not know how to pray. I think that is why there is a sinner’s prayer. It is to help others…to lead them so to speak. The right prayer I believe is one that comes from a person’s heart. And that heart needs to open up and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Romans 10:10 says with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Thank you for this blog. I love reading what you have to say. I hope you had a great Resurrection Sunday. God is good! May His name be praised always. May He bless you and all of your readers.

That is what I meant when I said that the sinner’s prayer is not in the Bible, but sinners definitely need to talk to God and establish a relationship with Him.

I’ve heard people talk about the sinner’s prayer for a long time. Mine was simple God I’m a sinner! Save me and forgive me! And he did!
The sinner’s prayer to me a sin waiting to happen the moment it’s uttered. Saying I will worship you for the rest of my life sounds great but we all know that we don’t. Of course God knows this.
As mentioned above most sinners upon realizing they need a Savior do not know how to talk to God. But at the same time there are many older Christians who still don’t know how to talk to him. So I can see a person “leading” them in prayer with the repeat after me. But God knows that person’s heart at that moment.
There was no sinner’s prayer for the thief. There was acknowledgement of who Christ was however.
