Pleasing God

I am currently spending time with family and it’s important to me that God answer this prayer as I share Bible truths and stories from His Word with my young grandchildren. Curious by nature, one of the children has been asking repeatedly about stories from the Bible. I have told her the stories of David and Goliath, Abraham and Isaac, Gideon and his fleece, Saul on the road to Damascus and creation. My prayer before our visit was to help me make a difference in the lives of the children. So, as I continue to share, pray and speak about Jesus and His saving power, may my words please the Lord who has given me the opportunity to be with these precious little ones.

The Fountain of Youth

Ponce de León was a Spanish explorer most known for his search for the Fountain of Youth. Convinced that if he found it, he would never die, he spent his life vainly looking for it. If only he had opened and studies a Bible!

The Scriptures clearly tell us that this world is going away but if we do what pleases God, we will live forever. So, how do we please God? Repent, accept Jesus as Savior and live with Him as your Lord. The secret to eternal life is not finding a non-existent fountain but in finding the Living Water that provides eternal security with God.

Have a blessed day and may your day be filled with the knowledge that you will be with the Lord forever!

Pleasing God

I don’t know about you, but I’m a people-pleaser. I started that habit as a child to receive approval from a very critical mother. I would do whatever it took to get someone to notice that I was doing good things and to praise me for it. I would like to think that I have outgrown that habit, but I probably haven’t since I still find myself sometimes saying “yes” a lot when what I really mean to say is “no.” I think that’s the people-pleaser in me coming out.

Part of my devotional today is about pleasing God, making wise choices with my words and my thoughts. To do that, I have to spend time with Him, making sure that I’m on the same page as He is. Sometimes lately I have found that God has moved on to the next page, or even the next chapter, and I’m still standing in the past demanding that He fix things for me. Then He speaks quietly to my heart and tells me to just move on with Him, that it will all be okay.

If I please God, then I will be pleasing to Him and that makes my heart happy.

Have a blessed day and may you find yourself on the same page as God and be able to find pleasure in pleasing Our Maker.
