What an awesome reminder that everything will not always work out as we want it to, but we will come through and remember that God is in control!
This latest novel by the inimitable Debra Webb promises to be a real blockbuster. The story is one of loss, love, trust, friendship and family relationships. When Emma Graves, a forensic anthropologist returns home after a disgraceful incident at the university where she is teaching, she has no inkling that this return trip will be more than just a visit to her mother. Her sister and a friend disappeared twenty five years earlier after a bus accident, an accident from which Emma managed to escape physically. However, her emotional and psychological trauma continues and is a vital part of this intricately woven tale. As Emma and her friend, Sheriff Letty Cotton, set out to discover the truth of the girls’ disappearance, dark and powerful forces are at work in Jackson Falls to keep the truth hidden. This novel was one that I will not soon forget because of the drama and the fact that I was quickly involved in the story myself, desiring and yet fearing the truth. Readers of psychological suspense, thrillers and mysteries will want to read this book and will definitely enjoy the web of deceit that is woven into the story and slowly unfolds. What a fantastic book that deserves multiple readings!

Sunset Beach is not just a fluffy beach read. Not at all! It includes a disappearance of a young woman forty years before the current time and it also includes an unsolved murder that is two years old. I had expected the whole fluffy beach read since this was my first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised to find a multi-faceted novel, one with many layers and a lot of twists. Drue Campbell is having a hard life after her mother’s death. She has lost her job, can’t do kite boarding any more and is now dependent on her estranged father for a job and a place to live. Her new place to live is a tiny beach house that once belonged to her grandparents. You would think that having to depend on her father for a job would be bad enough, but his office manager is a former classmate of hers who taunts her constantly. Brice Campbell, her father, runs an ambulance chasing law firm and Drue answers phones for him. She discovers the mystery of the missing woman from four decades ago as well as the unsolved murder and sets out to investigate both. This book was full of humorous parts as well as parts that made me just want to cry for poor Drue and her situation. I did not like her father or his new wife Wendy at all, and I thought that Drue was a sympathetic but quirky character. Fans of women’s fiction with suspense and mystery thrown in will enjoy this book that was well-written with an engaging story.

This is a book that you will want to read in one or two days because it is such a compelling story. Ginny and Ab are married and have one son when Ginny gives birth to Lucy, a daughter with Down’s Symdrome. Because of the stigma attached, Ab;s father insists that Lucy needs to go into an institution. Lucy stays there until Willowridge comes under investigation and it is discovered that the conditions there and their treatment of the children is deplorable. At this point in the story, Ginny is determined to take charge of her child herself, so she and her best friend Marsha set out on a road trip to escape Ab and his father. If it had not been for flashbacks, I would have never guessed that Ab actually loved Ginny and his children because he just seems to follow whatever his father tells him to do. His weak character made him very unpopular with me. I liked the strength that Ginny showed and Marsha’s initiative to jump in and help Ginny out. The themes of friendship and hope are demonstrated in this novel. Fans of contemporary women’s fiction will fall in love with the character of Ginny and her courage in the face of so many obstacles.

A.S.K – 2 – Trusting the Bible
— Read on theweeflea.com/2019/06/06/a-s-k-2-trusting-the-bible/
The Bible is a cornerstone of our lives and we need to trust that it is true! Please read the original blog by The Wee Flea.
Montauk is a beach on Long Island, a resort for the very wealthy to play and for the working class to work hard to please them. It is into this world that Beatrice Bordeaux is thrust when her husband Harry decides that they will summer in Montauk. Even before arriving there, Bea is dissatisfied with her marriage, yearning for a child who has never come and a husband with whom to share her frustrations and dreams. Harry is present in body only because it seems that he is always chasing a bigger profit somewhere. Beatrice is left alone a great deal of the time and expected to stay with the wealthy set, her “class.” But she finds that she is not comfortable with those who are arrogant and gossipy, those who demonstrate their non-acceptance of others who are not rich. Uncomfortable with the high society, Bea drifts away from them and toward the domestic help in the luxury hotel and the fishermen who provide the daily catch for the restaurants there. This historical women’s fiction depicts class inequalities as well as anti-semitism. Set in the late 1930’s, with war on the horizon, the descriptions are magnetic and beautiful. The characters are complex and mostly unlikable. I really did like Beatrice, but even she did not seem to make right choices often enough, although I continually rooted for her to do so. This novel is perfect for fans of domestic drama, mixed with history and a little bit of suspense. The author did a good job of involving me in the story so that I enjoyed it enough to recommend it to others.

Tears are wiped away. No more sorrow or mourning! If you are not already, please read the original post by David and follow his blog.
Do you remember being a child and asking your caregiver or mama where your daddy was? I do! And the answer was always the same, no matter how many times I asked it. “He’s at work.” Well, as a Christian, sometimes I find myself asking myself, “Where is God when all of this bad stuff is happening?” And the answer is always the same, “He’s at work.” What is He “at work” doing?

He is at work within each of us who call Him our Father. He gives us the desire to please Him in what we do each day, and He follows up by giving us the power to carry through. We can’t change everything that happens in this world, but we can change some things. We can make a difference in someone’s life today. We just have to be open to the Father and ask Him what He wants us to do for Him today. Are you ready to go to work? God is waiting to you to call on Him for the power to make a difference! Blessings for a wonderful day filled with His desires and His power!
How blessed are you in your life? I am blessed beyond measure…I survived a stroke, have met and played with my grandchildren and have an abundance of love in my life. The greatest love that I have is the love that Jesus showed me when He died for me on the cross.
My sins are covered by the blood of Jesus so that when God sees me, He sees the sacrifice that His Son made for me covering me. Stop and think about that for a moment. We all sing songs about being clothed in all white, guiltless before Him. I recall that when I was a little girl and my grandparents had their side porch painted. When I went to their house that day, nanny warned my sister and I sternly not to go on the porch because the paint was still wet. Well, I didn’t listen and went on the porch to play as I usually did. I had a great time until nanny called me in for dinner and I had to wash up. That is when nanny and I both noticed the brick red colored paint on my hands. Nanny and I both knew that I was guilty of not following her command. Turpentine took the paint off, but I still remember the smell and how ashamed I was as nanny chided me for not listening to her. God sent His Son to wash us clean and to remove all guilt. Just as nanny hugged me and told me that she still loved me after my infraction, God loves us with an everlasting love and His own Son’s blood has washed us clean before God for all eternity. The reason that we can stand spotless before Him is Jesus!

The thing that stood out to me about this verse as I meditated on it this morning is that there is a reward for those who are righteous. Our rewards come daily with our relationship with Jesus. But our real reward is when we stand before Him and all of our sins are washed away. Unfortunately, for those who do not accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of their lives, there is a judgment coming. Yes, they may do whatever they please here on earth, but God is the final judge and He is righteous and judges rightly. I am glad to say that I am a Christian who believes in Jesus as my Savior (He died to save me from my sins) and my Lord (He is the master of my life, the One I turn to for guidance and whom I try to obey daily). My prayer is that those who read my blog also know the freedom that comes with being able to say that you have a relationship with the Lord Jesus. I pray blessings on you all for a good and safe day. Let’s remember to pray for those not as fortunate as we are, especially those affected by the tornadoes recently.
