Promises of Strength and Peace

This Scripture verse is made to order for me this morning, and I hope that the promises it contains bless you, too. Just when I was thinking that I could not take one more bit of bad news about the current presidency in the USA and the pandemic and the scary attitudes toward Christians, God gave me this verse to read, to remind me of His promises that never end. He continues to strengthen us and give us peace during some challenging times. I’m convinced that the times will become more challenging and dangerous for those who believe in Jesus as Lord. But I’m also convinced that the strength and peace that God promises will still be there for us. Good news! His promises aren’t just for the good times; they are for every day, no matter what we face. Daniel faced the lion’s den and knew these promises firsthand. Jesus went to the cross and knew the peace and strength of being the Son of God, resolute in His determination to carry out the will of His Father. I’m not saying that I want to go into a lion’s den or even that I’m there now. But I know that I am called to carry my cross daily and sometimes that means being kind to the people who are not kind to me. I’m saying that God will meet each of us wherever we are in our walks with Him and give us the strength and peace we need to continue our faith journey.

God bless you today with His peace and strength. May you feel Him near and hear Him whisper of His great love for you.

Life Is Short

Not a big revelation there, is it? But I felt that it needed to be said, if only for me. You see, I have been feeling a deep discontentment in my heart these days. I have been angry about what has been happening throughout America. I support the protests, but NOT the riots, so the destruction of the businesses of innocent people angered me. Righteous anger? Probably not since it has been boiling inside me. Then, this morning, the Lord calmed my spirit and spoke softly to me that life is short, so why should I let the misdeeds of others upset me so? God is taking care of things. Maybe I can’t see it or understand the end of it, but God is there and He is aware of all of the crimes, both against humanity and against Him. So, I can just relax. Life is short and in the time that God has given me, I want to be and do only what would honor Him.

Yes, the battle still rages in some of the major cities of the U.S. But my spirit is quiet, knowing that God knows that these days are evil and He will bring the final judgment. He will judge the police who acted rashly and murdered a man. He will judge the destructive rioters who have killed and looted and tried to destroy a great nation. He is the final Judge. My responsibility is to walk as a wise person, avoiding evil and showing people the way of life as much as I can. One day, I will no longer be here on earth because this is the way of all of us. Whether we acknowledge or choose to think about it or not, everyone dies. The thing is that it is my choice whether to live walking quietly and in peace with the spirit or to let the evil of the world stir me to sinful anger. I choose peace. I choose God. I choose to live my short life(God’s Word says it is but a breath) focused on Him who has given me so much joy and love, without asking anything of me in return.

I am thankful for each of my followers and wish for each of you the peace of God in your hearts. Bless you, my friends.

Treat Others the Way You Want to Be Treated

I have silently been mourning what has been happening in our nation this last week. I am so sad for the Floyd family and their unimaginable loss. But I know, in my heart, that what is happening in the U.S.A. is not the best of us. It is absolutely the worst and should not be! How did Jesus react when there was unrest? Well, when the Jewish leaders came to arrest Him, Peter tried to defend Him by cutting off the ear of one of the men. Jesus immediately rebuked Peter and healed the man, replacing and restoring his ear. Jesus heals, not destroys! What we are seeing these days is not healing anything! It is not bringing peace to the Floyd family. Justice is coming, folks, but the wheels of justice move slowly, and the violence has got to stop now!

I was in tears this morning when I read the story of the fire set to a home in Richmond, Virginia, the capital of my state. There was a child inside! An innocent child! And the rioters blocked the firemen’s pathway to rescue the family inside. Yes, their blocking was brief, but what were they thinking? Why set fire to a family’s home? What is the purpose? Anger?

I read an article by Dr. Denison today that I want to share with you. And I ask that you read it PRAYERFULLY!

Dr. Jim Denison June 1, 2020

The Israelites were at war with one another, and one man had the wisdom to say this. Who will stand in the gap today and say it to the rioters who are destroying our cities, our peace and our history?

Let There Be Peace On Earth

The song may include ads that you will want to skip.

My prayer today: Yes, Lord! Let the peace on earth begin with me! Let me speak peace, think peace, pray peace and show peace to others. Let your love shine through me. In Jesus’s Name. Amen.

If this is your prayer, too, then I ask that you share this post with others and let’s make the cry for peace go viral! The cry for riots and destruction is already there. We can do better than this. Jesus did! Blessings my friends for safety wherever you are and for peace in your hearts that the world cannot understand because the world did not give it. Jesus did!
