The Godless

It’s hard to believe with all of the technological advances that there are people today who are totally Godless. Or, perhaps that is better stated, that their god is themselves or their possessions or their job. Their god is not the God of the Bible; thus they are easily led into believing more and more lies. Point in case is the Episcopalian private school in NYC that is teaching children not to call their parents “mom” and “dad.” This was reported in Dr. Denison’s Forum yesterday.

Dr. Denison March 15, 2021

There was a Papal announcement yesterday that had me scratching my head in wonder. Pope Francis has been very leftist and liberal, so his announcement yesterday that homosexual marriage is “illicit” puzzled me. According to the article I read, he said that we have to basically accept homosexuality, but homosexuals cannot get married and have the blessing of the church. What?!? I understand loving the homosexual, because they are sinners like the rest of us; they just haven’t found grace and forgiveness yet. Anyway, the Pope’s statement was a little disconcerting, like talking out of two sides of the same mouth.

The Epoch Times March 16, 2021

Dr. Denison’s Forum today addressed the topic of the Pope. It also addressed the Grammy Awards, a show that I stopped watching long ago because of its blatant disregard for any kind of decorum or morality. According to Dr. Denison, the Grammys this year were worse than ever and could be considered X-rated. This is a terrible commentary on our nation, that we would accept such a blatant display and not call it out as sin. Again, my mind is reeling with all that is happening today, as our nation spirals quickly down the rabbit hole of sin and destruction. What concerns me is that more Christians are not speaking up against things like this. Mike Huckabee, a well-known Christian conservative and former governor of Arkansas, wrote against the show in his newsletter today. Finally, Tucker Carlson from Fox News, questioned the absurdity of banning Dr. Seuss and allowing X-rated dances and songs on the Grammys.

Dr. Denison, March 16, 2021

Well, with all of that bad news, what is the Good News?

Here you go! A promise from God for the blameless. Remember that you don’t get “blameless” on your own. The only way that you are cleansed is through the blood of Christ, God’s only Son who sacrificed Himself so that we could call ourselves His children. I’m glad that I fit into the first part of that verse and feel bad for those who are in the second part. Let’s remember to pray for them to see the truth and the light and to accept the truth of God’s Word. Repentance is the word of the day.

Blessings to each of you and prayers that you will remember to pray for our nation, for the sinners and for this end of the age. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Courage in a Post-Christian World

I have tears in my eyes as I write this post, for I honestly never thought that our nation would fall so far so fast. The Equality Act, passed by the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday, is a marker of how far we have fallen. There will no longer be protection for the Christians in our nation who do not want to bake for same sex couples or for pastors who do not want to perform same sex marriages. Being a Christian these days is thought to be some kind of racism because we stand against sin and immorality. But stand we must! If Jesus could go to Golgotha for us and pay the ultimate price, then we can stand for the truth and for righteousness.

The next years, and possibly for the rest of my life, will be difficult for those who believe in the truth and morals of the Bible. We believe that there is such a thing called sin. We believe in God who established laws and precepts for us to follow, for our good, always. We believe that God is not prohibiting behavior because He is a spoilsport, but because He knows what is best for us. Our nation has lost its moral compass, led by a man who is blinded by saying he is a Roman Catholic, so that makes everything he accepts “okay” for the nation.

I’m here, standing up to the unrighteous majority, and stating that what the national leaders are doing is a disgrace to this nation and will only lead to God’s judgment. For many years, I have heard, “If God doesn’t judge the U.S., then He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” Well, I don’t believe that God will end up apologizing to any sinfulness incarnate. The U.S. is following in the destructive steps of Sodom, Gomorrah and the Roman Empire.

I am saddened beyond belief because I don’t want this for my children and grandchildren. So, I am standing up for truth, in spite of the fact that I am aged and can only do so much. But I can do one thing. I can speak truth to lies, I can call sin what it is and I can refuse to accept that man is his own god. There is One Truth, One God and One Judge and He doesn’t reside in D.C. or any state capital. It’s time for Christians to stand boldly and say that we are not afraid of what man can do to us. Same-sex marriage is an abomination, period! The LGBTQ+ movement is straight from the pits of hell, because man wants to do his own thing instead of following God’s plan. Teaching school children to accept that they have no gender or that they can choose their gender is evil. God created two genders, male and female, period.

I’m sick and tired of hiding and not saying what I think. I see our nation headed straight to hell, literally, and I cannot stay silent. I am angry at our lawmakers who are supposed to represent us but who are instead legislating a morality that they themselves believe in and that they are forcing on ALL Americans. It is time to call your Senators…burn up the phones in D.C. and let them know that the Equality Act is not for equality; it stands for repression of the faith-believers. Let the Supreme Court know that your opinion is that they need to actually enforce the Constitution of the United States. The Equality Act strikes at the heart of the First Amendment. We may go down, but let us go down fighting against this tyranny. Let us stand with courage for what is right and not be afraid of the powers that stand against us.

I am not giving you a script to read as you call. Instead, I am trusting you to pray, call and speak. Be a voice for the Christians so that we at least try to stop the downhill roll to destruction. I leave you with today’s article from Dr. Denison, which is what inspired me to write this column today.

Pray, Speak, Stand.

John Baillie’s Prayer

Lest you think how marvelous it is that I have researched and found a great Scottish minister who said this prayer, please let me give credit to Dr. Denison who included the prayer in his daily forum today. He addressed the issue of censorship and the Christian response. In a devotional that I read this morning, the writer encouraged Christians to respond to the hatred and vitriol online with a kind and loving and encouraging response. I think that is a great idea and plan to do so myself. I hope that many of you will join me in the endeavor to counter hatred with love. Here is the link to Dr. Denison’s forum today:

Dr. Denison on Censorship Jan. 18, 2021

Here is John Baillie’s prayer:

“By your grace, O God, I will go nowhere today where you cannot come, nor seek anyone’s presence that would rob me of yours. By your grace I will let no thought enter my heart that might hinder my closeness with you, nor let any word come from my mouth that is not meant for your ear. So shall my courage be firm and my heart be at peace.”

May you all be blessed today with a heart that is at peace.

Heartbroken

Dr. Denison said it much better than I could, and his article is below. Yes, I’m still upset about what I consider a fraudulent election that took place on November 3rd and again on Tuesday in Georgia. But, there is a peaceful way to do things. Yesterday was not it. I am saddened by the thought that the world looks at our democracy as an example of what not to be. I pray for the United States of America to survive the next four years of socialism, but if we do not, then I believe that it is because we did not truly submit to the Lord. Pray for the U.S.A. Do not condemn us; we are hurting and need to heal from a divisive election that was not transparent and seemingly not free and fair as we tout that our elections should be. God bless all of you. No matter which side of the debate you are on, God loves you and wants you to know that His love is greater than your sin.

Losses and Wins

This weekend brought devastating news to me. First the MSM declared that Biden is the president-elect. Never mind that the vote has not been certified and there are all kinds of allegations of election fraud and legal challenges to the current vote. There are statistical anomalies that make more sense and the election is being compared to Richard Daley taking over Chicago with “down ballots.” I’m disgusted and dismayed, but I’m not defeated and neither is the President. And if it turns out that he LEGALLY loses, then the USA has gotten what we deserve and what many asked for. Nevertheless, I continue to cry out for God’s grace and mercy for our nation.

But, to me, even more upsetting news was the death of the “Jeopardy” TV show host, Alex Trebek. I have watched Jeopardy since I was in my teens at home with my mom and siblings. We watched, played along and enjoyed that half hour of TV each night. (At that time the host was Art Fleming.). Then, when I got married and moved every couple of years, the one show that was a constant in my life was “Jeopardy.” I felt like watching it made me smarter somehow as I absorbed the trivia that was presented there. When Alex Trebek wrote his memoir last year, I got it and read it intently, wanting to know more about this guest in my living room for over three decades. The memoir was heart-touching and heart-rending as he accepted his inevitable death from pancreatic cancer. And yesterday, he passed away. May he Rest In Peace.

So, what wins do I have? I went to church yesterday for the first time in eight months! My husband and I attended a new church in a town about forty minutes away (twice the distance as my previous church), and I thought the service was amazing! Excellent praise and worship time, communion and a sermon that my heart really needed. Just going into public was a real challenge for me since I haven’t gone anywhere except to medical appointments since March. But, masked up and limping around with my boot on my broken foot, I went to church and loved every minute. Afterwards, I met an elderly lady outside waiting for her ride. But as it turns out, Deborah didn’t have a ride. She was trusting Jesus for one. Since she is currently staying in a town near ours, we took her home. Win! We got to help someone! Then, we went to the local restaurant and ordered a thin crust pizza for our lunch. I haven’t had pizza since March either. Even with my very restricted diet, I was allowed two pieces. A lot of thanks for that taste in my mouth again!

Here is Dr. Denison’s Forum for today. I hope that you enjoy reading news from a Christian perspective.

Why I’m Praying for Judge Barrett

I’m praying for the new Supreme Court nominee because:

1. She is highly qualified and deserves to be confirmed.

2. She has not done anything to cause her to be vilified, but the smears are already starting.

3. She has a family of seven children, some of whom are old enough to read or hear the news and be affected by it.

4. She is a fellow Christian who has demonstrated remarkable faith and grace.

5. I’m commanded to pray for my brothers and sisters, and I believe that she is one and demonstrates the qualities that I would like to demonstrate if I were in her place.

6. She stands for Christian values, including being pro-life.

7. Finally, I feel compassion towards her for being a strong woman in a world of men and women who don’t even try to understand her or accept her and her faith.

This morning, I read Dr. Denison’s forum about Justice Barrett. I also heard clips of how the MSM is treating her. Senator Chuck Schumer is calling the process illegitimate and refuses to meet with her. A late-night comedian says that she is “really, really Catholic…speak in tongues Catholic.” She is being smeared for adopting children from Haiti, for having seven children and for having a successful career as a woman (with the idea that she couldn’t possibly be doing a good job of both). Here is Dr. Denison’s forum for you to read:

My Prayer for You by Alisa Turner

I hope that you will listen to the song above and keep Judge Barrett in your prayers as the days of her confirmation hearings continue. And while you are praying, keep the U.S.A. and our election in your prayers. Without God’s help and intervention, we will be headed down the destructive road to socialism.

Blessings to each of you today as you pray, praise, and read the Scripture. May you feel the Lord walking beside you, holding your hand and speaking gently in your ear the words of comfort or wisdom that you need to hear.

Suicide Awareness

I think that suicide touches more people than we know. My beloved uncle, the fun-loving, guitar-playing and lovable man who was a frequent visitor to my home, committed suicide when I was a freshman in college. I remember that I got called to the dorm mother’s room and my two closest friends were asked to accompany me. The dorm mom broke the news to me and told me that my cousin was there to pick me up and take me home. I don’t remember packing or getting in the car or arriving home. All I remember is the devastation, my mother’s ravaged face and all of the quiet voices. Suicide is real and people who are thinking about it need help. Dr. Denison had an article today in his daily forum.

Please be open to listen to others. Please encourage anyone who even mentions suicide in passing to talk to someone at the suicide hotline.

Living in the “Last Days”

Before Jesus departed from His disciples, He gave them a job to do.

The chaos of today’s world is our opportunity to share the Gospel. As Dr. Denison pointed out in today’s article, the best way to share is through personal experience.

Dr. Denison July 27, 2020

I hope that each of us, me included, will spend some time in prayer about how to reach the lost in this world that we are living in. We don’t know when Jesus is returning. But these are the “last days.” If you read Dr. Denison’s article, you will have read his explanation for why that is true. Beware of our enemy and go forth boldly to proclaim how the truth has changed your life. Why? So that others may believe and be saved!

More Evidence of a Fallen America

I read Dr. Denison’s post yesterday and it put me into a quandary. You see, one of my favorite channels to watch (when I actually watch TV, which is infrequently) is Hallmark. The news about them and their loss of a moral compass is disturbing. They have acquiesced to the LGBTQ crowd and plan to develop movies featuring gay couples. So, now I have to decide if I’m going to continue to pay for the channel. Candice Cameron Bure is a Christian who works for the Hallmark channel. I really want to hear her take on the whole thing. Yes, there are still good shows there. But do they seriously think that this will “normalize” gay relationships? After all, that seems to be the goal of the movement. God is the One who set the norm and he said: One man and One woman. The relationship was supposed to be for life, and then divorce became the norm when “no fault divorce” came along. So, is being gay going to be the new norm? But, I digress. I don’t think divorce is a sin; I do, however, think that choosing to be gay is a sin and there are all kinds of Scriptures to back me up. To me, Hallmark’s choice is just another indication of how far the U.S. has fallen into accepting sin.
